The Southern Medical Association supports excellence in science and education through special awards.
Awards are given to those who demonstrate our mission: "to improve quality of patient care through multispecialty interprofessional education".
Established at the Annual Meeting in 1955, the Distinguished Service Award is presented to a physician in recognition of outstanding contributions to the advancement of medical science and/or the Association. This award may be given annually to any association member, individual, or group for their dedication to a chosen profession, whose achievements have had a positive impact on medicine and/or the Association.
