Research and Education Endowment Fund

The Southern Medical Association (SMA) established the Research  and Education Endowment Fund as a permanent endowment in 1986. The Fund supports two on-going financial aid programs initiated in the 1960s by SMA. It provides financial assistance to medical students, residents and physicians in training through the Medical Student Scholarship Program and the Research Project Grant Program.

These scholarships are made possible by the continued support of the SMA Alliance’s fund raisers, such as the Annual Raffle held each year at the Annual Scientific Assembly and the sale of Doctors’ Day items. Not to mention the generous contributions of SMA Members including the 1906 Society comprised of members who have contributed $5,000 or more in support of the Research and Education Endowment Fund.

One of the biggest supporters of the Research and Education Endowment Fund is the SMA Alliance and for the past 12 years, the Alliance sponsored Raffle has raised over $100,000 for the Research and Education Endowment Fund.

What better way to get in an end-of-year tax deduction than to make a donation which supports the education of future physician leaders.  If you have questions, please contact Kendra Blackmon at kblackmon@sma.org or call 800-423-4992 ext. 164.

Thank you in advance for your support of the  Research and Education Endowment Fund.
