Annual Meeting Presentation of the Week

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world. Despite the presence of effective strategies, clinicians and health care systems fail to systematically apply these strategies to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. This session will address this global burden of cardiovascular disease, and describe systems that can address gaps in practice. At  the conclusion of the session, learners should be better prepared to:

  • Recognize that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world;
  • Identify three strategies that if implemented globally and systematically, can significantly reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease.
