Goals and Objectives

Price transparency in health care is highly discussed amongst the academia, industry, and media. Unfortunately, physicians, residents, fellows, medical students, and the consumers/patients are less informed of the price transparency mandates. The activity covers the three important mandates:

  • The CMS’ Hospital Price Transparency
  • Transparency in Coverage
  • No Surprises Act

and how the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) monitors and enforces the concerned stakeholders. The webinar also covers how price transparency impacts all the stakeholders. In addition, the North Alabama Internal Medicine Residency Program’s embracing of price transparency and incorporation of cost of care into the residency curriculum will be discussed.

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to:

  • Understand the legislation towards price transparency in health care;
  • Recognize how price transparency is going to transform the US healthcare system;
  • Appreciate the need to understand price transparency and how it will help deliver care to patients at lowered costs.
