ACCME Commendation

Southern Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM

Southern Medical Association designates this Live activity for a maximum of 16 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABIM - Maintenance of Certification

American Board of Internal Medicine - Maintenance of Certification Points

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 16 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Other Healthcare Professionals

Continuing education requirements vary from state to state. Many national accrediting organizations, such as AAPA, ANCC, AANPCP, as well as state boards, recognize ACCME-approved AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM and these credits may be used as such toward continuing education requirements. Upon completion of attendance attestation and evaluation, all non-physician professional attendees will receive a certificate of attendance stating that the conference is certified for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. It is the responsibility of each professional attendee to understand the requirements for license renewal.  SMA encourages all attendees to contact their state or national licensing board(s) and/or professional organization(s) to become familiar with their policies for acceptable continuing education credit.
