Webcast Questions

Watch SMA’s educational sessions in live streaming video over the Internet, and earn CME/CE credit!  

1. What is a Live Webcast?
A webcast is streaming audio and video of a conference, which you may watch live from your home or office computer.

2. Can multiple people from my company watch the webcast?
Only one log-in per registrant is provided.

3. Will I be able to ask questions through a chat session while watching the webcast?
At this time, you will not have the ability to ask questions during the live broadcast.

4. How long do I have access to the lectures following the course?
The broadcast will be available on-demand approximately 7 working days after the event, and you may view it for up to 3 months.

NOTE: In order to claim CME credit, you must watch the LIVE event. Credit will NOT be awarded for watching the sessions “on-demand” after the conclusion of the conference.

5. Can I watch from my iPhone, iPad, or smart devices?
The preferred format for viewing the webcast is on a PC or laptop computer. Smart devices are not supported.

6. Will I need to install software in advance?
You will be prompted at the “launch” of the webcast if you need to download software. The installation process is quick and simple.

7. Will I need access to both the internet and a telephone?
No. All of our sessions are delivered via your personal computer or laptop’s speakers with access to the Internet.

8. What formats do you support for webcasting?
Microsoft Silverlight is the preferred software for viewing webcasts.

9. How will I claim my CME credit?
After watching the sessions LIVE, you will be emailed a link to evaluate the sessions, and to claim CME/CE credit. You must attest that you watched the event “live” in order to claim the credit.

10.  May I view the webcast on my Mac?

11.  What is the minimal transfer rate for the Internet Connection (streaming rate)?
You will need a high speed connection, 5mbps minimum

Other technical requirements:

  • Windows:  x86 or x64 (64-bit mode support for IE only).  1.6-gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor with 512-MB of RAM, sound card and speakers.  Internet Explorer 7+, Google Chrome 12+, and Firefox 3.6+
  • Mac:  A Mac running Mac OS 10.4.11+ (Browsers must be in 32-bit mode), an Intel Core Duo 1.83-gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor with 512-MB of RAM, sound capabilities, and Safari 5.5+, Google Chrome 16.0+
  • Internet Connection:  A Cable or DSL internet connection (200 kbps+) is highly recommended for the best experience.  A low speed modem connection (56k) can be used, but is not recommended and buffering is to be expected.
  • IMPORTANT – If you are planning to view any online course from a place of work, it is HIGHLY recommended that you first check with your IT department and/or Network Administrator to make sure that:  1) You are allowed access to install programs on your computer and 2) You are allowed access to view online streaming media.
