Southern Medical Association will hold its 26th Annual Southern Region Burn Conference at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel and Marina, November 15-17, 2013. This event is an energizing learning resource for all burn care disciplines at any level of experience. The curriculum focuses on evidence-based medicine, treatment modalities, rehabilitation advances, disaster planning, prevention education, research, outreach programs, and burn units’ work in progress.
Pre-conferences include Advanced Burn Life Support Provider & Instructor courses, a ‘hands-on’ rehabilitation workshop, disaster preparedness session, and nurses’ symposium. In addition, a tour is planned of the Tampa General Regional Burn Center and MacDill Air Force Base which is headquarters for the US Department of Defense Central Command. There are also three social events taking place!
The Southern Region is comprised of 14 states with 32 burn centers. The program is designed through podium and poster abstracts with Q&A, hot topics panels, as well as invited speakers. The Southern Region attracts highly successful experts transforming burn care in the region, including 2013 guest speakers:
