SMA, in collaboration with Boston University School of Medicine, will offer “Scope of Pain” opioid prescriber education during the Medical Dilemmas in Patient Care conference in New York this December. This education, designed to help you safely and effectively manage patients with chronic pain, when appropriate, with opioid analgesics, is incorporated in the course curriculum and carries physician and nurse credits.
The FDA has mandated manufacturers of extended release/long-acting (ER/LA) opioid analgesics, as part of a comprehensive Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS), to make available comprehensive prescriber education in the safe use of these medications based on the FDA curriculum known as the Blueprint for Prescriber Education for Extended Release and Long-Acting Opioid (ER/LA) Analgesics. This curriculum covers all aspects of this blueprint and more to provide a comprehensive educational program.
The 3-hour session will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 as part of SMA's Medical Dilemmas in Patient Care conference. See more on this session and the full daily schedule by visiting the conference website: http://sma.org/medical-dilemmas.
