SMA is pleased to welcome Donald J. DiPette, MD, FACP, FAHA, as its new Councilor representing members in the state of South Carolina. Dr. DiPette earned his bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall and his MD degree from Pennsylvania State University. He is board certified in internal medicine and clinical pharmacology and has a specialist certification in hypertension. He has also published more than 120 manuscripts in leading peer-reviewed clinical and basic science journals.
Dr. DiPette is currently Health Sciences Distinguished Professor and Special Assistant to the Provost for Health Affairs at the University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. Approximately 50% of the medical school’s alumni practice medicine in South Carolina, where hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease are major health problems.
Dr. DiPette is married to Laura E. DiPette.
