Abstract

Though the acute life-endangering complications of acute otitis media have been quite eliminated by antibiotic therapy, this treatment may be followed by the complication of chronic disease. Because of improper selection of an antibiotic or insufficient treatment or bacterial resistance, chronic otitis and/or mastoiditis may supervene.
