Abstract

The success of operations for congenital heart disease in infants and children depends not on upon the appropriateness and the quality of the surgical procedure, but upon the ability to provide the necessary life-support system for these patients. This article reviews in detail the necessary steps in preoperative, operative and postoperative management of these patients.
