Bacterial Endocarditis

Abstract

The authors point to changes m the clinical picture of bacterial endocarditis when compared to the past. Antimicrobial therapy has changed the etiologic bacteria encountered. The older age of the patients may account for the almost asymptomatic course, and the frequency of emboli to the coronary bed may result in a cardiac death even though the bacterial disease is cured.
