CAUSAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OS CALCIS AND SHAPE OF LEG

Abstract

SUMMARY(1) A particularly long os calcis in Negroes is a racial characteristic.(2) This necessitates a different adjustment of the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles.(3) The result is a non-protruding, slender calf in Negroes more or less stick-like in appearance in contrast to the protruding calf in white more or less bottle shaped.
