Consultation As A Two-Way Process Psychiatric Education Through Consultation

Authors: ROY S. CLEMMONS M.D.

Abstract

There is an increasing awareness of the role emotional reactions play in disease,—especially in so-called psychosomatic diseases. Too it is recognized that there are not enough psychiatrists to cope with the magnitude of the problem. “Open” psychiatric services in general hospitals will stimulate further the need for doctors of whatever discipline to take a hand in the management of disturbed patients. Much will need to be done in education of house and attending staffs.
