Authors: SALAHATTIN M. SANAL, MD, NILDA B. WINIARSKI, MD, FRANCISCO J. CARDENAS, MD

Abstract

BONE MARROW GRANULOMAS are seen in various infectious and noninfectious disorders. The finding of granulomas in the bone marrow of patients with inflammatory bowel disease is extremely rare and often suggests the coexistence of another systemic illness. This case report distinctly demonstrates bone marrow granulomas in a patient with Crohn's disease. In the absence of other systemic disorders and known factors giving rise to the development of granulomas in bone marrow, we believe that Crohn's disease is the cause in this patient. We compare our case with the only other such case reported in the English literature.
