Authors: ROBERT R. BURNS, MD, STEVEN G. SILVERBERG, MD

Abstract

Whether this convulsive illness, accompanied by coma, hepatomegaly and commonly ending in death, represents a single disease entity cannot be stated today. The fatty infiltrations of the liver and encephalomalacia are hallmarks but may occur in isolated examples of many other conditions individually. The syndrome may be more common than thouaht.
