Importance of Homosexuals and Bisexuals in the Epidemiology of Syphilis

Authors: WILLIAM B. NESER MSSA, MSPH, HENRY M. PARRISH MD, DrPH

Abstract

The recognition of infectious venereal disease in homosexuals is most important, and officially was recognized first in the State and Territorial Officers report of 1967. One may wonder if biased reporting stresses sexual deviancy. The bisexual deviant of the “gay” world probably tends to hide under the cloak of nondeviant sexual promiscuity.
