Systemic Candidiasis Following Cardiac Surgery An Improved Outlook
Abstract
ABSTRACTSystemic candidiasis following cardiac surgery, previously regarded as fatal, has now a much improved prognosis. Prognosis depends largely on early diagnosis and treatment. Four of five patients we recently treated for this disease survived. The presence of several predisposing factors in a febrile patient following cardiac surgery should alert the physician to the possibility of this disease. This content is limited to qualifying members.
