Absent Liver Sign in Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia

Authors: WEBSTER RIGGS JR,. MD, ALAN HERSCHMAN, MD

Abstract

The authors document the occurrence of intrathoracic herniation of the liver as a cause of respiratory distress of the newborn. The presence of intestinal gas in the right upper abdominal quadrant in chest roentgenograms of the neonate should alert the physician to intrathoracic hepatic herniation.
