Since 1906, SMA has relied on membership and donations to create thousands of hours of education, publish more than 48,000 scientific peer-reviewed journal articles in the Southern Medical Journal, and more than $3.7 million in financial support through scientific research grants, loans, and medical student scholarships. With the South facing a physician shortage of more than 100,000 by the year 2030, there is now more need than ever to support the journey of the next generation of healthcare leaders. Your donation is 100% tax deductible and will be used to fund the programs that YOU are most passionate about. There are two simple ways that you can support SMA. Both options are restricted funds, ensuring that your contribution is used solely to support the apolitical, educational mission of SMA. You can establish your own Southern Medical Legacy Endowment Fund, or you can give one-time scholarships and provide vital support for our mission by donating any desired amount to our Research and Education Endowment Fund.

For contributions of $100K or more. Donate to medical education by establishing a named endowment that funds an SMA foundational initiative in perpetuity and associate your name (or an honoree's name) with supporting the family of medicine for every generation to come.

RESEARCH & EDUCATION FUND

For contributions up to $100k. When you donate to medical education through the Research & Education Endowment Fund, every penny of your generosity is invested into an account that is restricted to carrying out SMA's educational, apolitical mission. Named medical student scholarships are available to all donations of $2500 or more, but we are grateful for any amount you choose to give.
