ABOUT THE SMA ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC ASSEMBLY

For over 116 years, the Southern Medical Association has brought together the entire family of medicine to educate and be educated for the purpose of improving the quality of patient care.
 
Join health care professionals each year to improve your patient care with the latest research and practical tips, provided by experts. The Southern Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. SMA's premier annual live medical conference is an annual event that includes an extensive agenda addressing topics from up-to-date methods of preventative medicine to more complex subject matter and the latest research studies. Every presentation is peer-reviewed by SMA’s Planning Committee of highly respected clinicians, ensuring that all faculty content complies with or exceeds the ACCME’s educational standards.
 
This is an in-depth, multi-day conference during which clinicians and healthcare professionals of varied backgrounds and specialties convene in order to gain knowledge, provide improved care for patients and better understand other care providers across an ever-changing healthcare landscape.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Analyze the latest advancements in oncology research, including innovative treatments and technologies for improved patient outcomes.
  2. Implement evidence-based strategies for cancer prevention, early detection, and risk reduction in diverse patient populations and settings.
  3. Enhance interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare providers to optimize comprehensive care for cancer patients and their families.

Target Audience: This conference is designed for internists, oncologists, endocrinologists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, obstetricians, gynecologists, geneticists, NP’s, RN’s, PA’s and all other healthcare professionals involved in oncology care, treatment, and prevention.

Accreditation Statement: Southern Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation Statement: Southern Medical Association designates this activity for a maximum of 16 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

In-person medical trivia competition taking place during SMA’s Annual Scientific Assembly brings together medical students and residents to compete for monetary prizes, socialize with peers, and continue SMA’s tradition of medical excellence. This is a Friday evening, dinner event providing contestants a chance to take home the coveted SMA PIT Medical Excellence Award. SMA's Past President, Dr. Christopher Morris, a bona fide Jeopardy contestant, hosts this event.
