Ascaris Lumbricoides?

Authors: Lawrence R. Ash, PhD

Abstract

To the Editor:

I am writing with regard to an article published in the Southern Medical Journal concerning the finding of an Ascaris lumbricoidesadult worm that had supposedly exited from a man's urethra while he was urinating. 1 The article included a figure showing the 15-cm worm. As a reasonable expert in the diagnosis of human parasitic infections—I am coauthor of the Atlas of Human Parasitology, now in its Fourth Edition 2 —I could not help being interested in this case report.
