Abstract

Not too many yean ago the establishment of the true sex in the presence of genital anomalies depended upon laparotomy. Though this is still true in some instances, other diagnostic aids are available. In terms of mental health, the true diagnosis is essential before the child assumes the role of either that of a boy or of a girl.
