Abstract

SUMMARYThoracic injuries occur frequently and may be severe. Optimum results depend upon an alert initial examination, prompt recognition, and adequate correction of deranged thoracic physiology to permit an ultimate return of normal function. Some of the fundamental aspects of this vital and challenging problem have been presented.
