Radiologic Aspects of Hemobilia

Authors: WILLIAM N. FLOYD JR. MD

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis article discusses the typical radiologic findings of hemobilia, as well as its origins and etiology. Newer procedures have been helpful in diagnosing hemobilia. One new therapeutic technic, arterial embolization, is a possible alternative to surgical intervention in treating biliary tract hemorrhage. Early diagnosis is important for proper medical and/or surgical management of the patient with hemobilia.
