Reformation of the Anterior Chamber of the Eye

Authors: LOUIS A. BREFFEILH M.D.

Abstract

SUMMARYThe incidence of delay in anterior chamber formation is decreasing. This is a result of better pre- and postoperative medications. Tranquilizers, sedation and indoctrination have relieved anxiety. Acetazolamide and retrobulbar injections aid in vitreous control.More anesthesiologists and better general anesthetics have helped a great deal. Improved local anesthetics and technics produce better anesthesia.Improved surgical technics and sutures have been our best prophylactic measure. Scleral incisions promote rapid closure and better healing. Limbal base flaps cover leakage. The use of multiple sutures is most important. Large multiple peripheral iridectomies have prevented pupillary block.
