SMArt Rounds: Misery is Optional
There is a mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual cost to caring. This suffering is cumulative, subtle, and insidious, but once an individual is familiar with the language of clinical suffering and has developed a fluency, they can target these insults with mindful self assessment. During this 1-hour webinar, SMA Education Committee member Rodney W. Overstreet, BSN, CRNA, MNA, will discuss compassion fatigue, burnout, PTSD; explain depersonalization and derealization; and detail the process of interoception. He will also highlight healing tools and modalities that can be utilized to target the pain, release it, and allow space for healing.
This activity has been approved for AMA Category 1 CreditTM.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the activity, learners should be better prepared to:
Explain the terms: compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, burnout, and PTSD
