SCHOLARSHIPS

With the South facing a physician shortage of more than 100,000 by the year 2030, there is now more need than ever to support the journey of the next generation of healthcare leaders. SMA's  Awards, Scholarships, and Grants Committee, composed of senior leadership including PIT representation, under the guidance of the SMA Board of Directors determines the qualifications of all applicants/recipients. Scholarships are awarded to those who are enrolled in an appropriate health professions school that is accredited by the corresponding accreditation body.

Consider supporting the future generation with a donation to SMA’s Research and Education Endowment Fund.

Scholarship Guidelines

Southern Medical Association Society of 1906 Scholarship

Commemorating the founding of the association in 1906. 2,500. It is a given to a medical student in their 4th year of medical school that demonstrates outstanding leadership in the field of medicine. Applicants must be attending a qualified medical school.

Constellation Quality Health Medical Student Scholarship

Provided by Constellation Quality Health, in the amount of $2,500. Restricted to medical students entering their third year of medical school. Applicants must be attending a qualified medical school.

Southern Medical Association Society of 1924 Scholarship

Commemorating the founding of the SMA Alliance in the amount of $2,500. Awarded to a medical student in their 4th year of medical school that demonstrates outstanding leadership in the field of medicine award. Applicants must be attending a qualified medical school.

Constellation Quality Health - Donald J. DiPette Leadership Scholarship

Provided by our partner, Constellation Quality Health, in the amount of $2,500. Awarded to a medical student entering their third year of medical school that demonstrates outstanding leadership in the field of medicine award. Applicants must be attending a qualified medical school.
