Activity Description

This meeting is designed to bring together members of the burn team who are responsible for all aspects of rehabilitation of the burn patient.

With the ever-evolving innovations in treatment of burn injuries, it is critical to ensure therapists are current on treatment practices and guidelines to ensure optimal outcomes and recovery. There is a paucity of basic knowledge and skills training for therapists entering burn rehabilitation. In addition, we have an obligation to provide advanced competency training for seasoned therapists. Many burn centers do not have certified burn therapists (BT-C) or seasoned staff who can provide the education and training that is needed.

This meeting is designed to address these gaps by bringing together a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including physicians and therapists,  The program will focus on exploring current interventions, research, protocols, and pathways for enhancing patient care. By providing a platform for discussion, the activity aims to foster collaboration, standardize best practices, and integrate evidence-based approaches to improve patient outcomes in burn care.

Goals and Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, attendees will be able to:

• Gain confidence in applying knowledge and skills towards designing psychosocial treatment plans for complex burn patients from initial assessment through rehab, and transition to a lifelong journey of managing chronic conditions.

• Organize cutaneokinematics and application to daily treatment practice for improved functional outcomes.

• Acquire practical knowledge and skills of coaching for burn out prevention with this complex patient population.
