Darren S. Migita MD is a pediatric hospitalist at Seattle Children’s Hospital and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine.  He is currently the medical director of the Clinical Effectiveness (CE/CSW) Program at Seattle Children’s Hospital.  CE seeks to standardize the care of pediatric inpatients with evidence-based recommendations.  He has previously served as the Associate Medical Director of the Inpatient Medicine Value Stream, the Medical Director of Line Management, the Lead Pediatric Hospitalist at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland Washington and the co-chair of the Central Line Associated Bloodstream infection (CLABSI) committee.  Dr. Migita was an early adopter of the Continuous Process Improvement Initiative at Seattle Children’s.  Project themes have included improving the inpatient experience for families and providers, maximizing inpatient and emergency department efficiency, and streamlining operating room and pharmacy efficiency.  Dr. Migita is particularly interested in the application of Toyota Production System Principles within healthcare settings and cultivation of the proper mindset to improve system performance and patient outcomes.
