Dr. Anand “Andy” Mohan Appointed to SMA’s IMG Support & Advocacy Ad Hoc Committee
The Southern Medical Association (SMA) is pleased to announce Anand "Andy" Mohan, MD, MBA, MS, has been appointed to the newly formed International Medical Graduate (IMG) Support & Advocacy Ad Hoc Committee.
"Serving on the IMG Committee would allow me to give back meaningfully by mentoring recent graduates, advocating for supportive policies, and creating platforms that empower qualified international physicians to thrive in the U.S. healthcare system," Dr. Mohan said of his committee appointment. "As a physician who began my medical journey in South India and successfully navigated the complex and often challenging transition faced by International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in the United States, I have a deep, personal understanding of the barriers IMGs encounter on their path to contributing meaningfully to the healthcare system."
Dr. Mohan is a seasoned physician informaticist and healthcare IT executive with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of clinical practice, health technology, and strategic transformation. He has been involved with SMA for many years and has been featured as a healthcare technology expert on several SMA podcasts. Additionally, Dr. Mohan has led large-scale digital initiatives, including EHR implementation and clinical workflow optimization, utilizing automation to enhance healthcare delivery, with a growing focus on harnessing artificial intelligence to drive future improvements in care and patient outcomes.
Dr. Mohan's leadership also extends to academia, where he serves as a board member for Auburn University’s MBA, PEMBA, and EMBA programs. An entrepreneur at heart, he has contributed to several health startups and is also a licensed real estate agent in California and Tennessee.
