SMArt Rounds: Eosinophilic Esophagitis in Children and Adults
Overview
This 1-hour webinar will be presented by SMA Education Committee member Cary Cavender, MD, who will discuss eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a chronic condition affecting children and adults. EoE requires a comprehensive and tailored approach to management, often involving allergists, gastroenterologists, dietitians, and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal care and quality of life for patients.
This activity has been approved for AMA Category 1 CreditTM.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the activity, learners should be better prepared to:
1. Clearly define and understand the pathophysiology of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) in both children and adults.
2. Differentiate EoE from other esophageal disorders such as GERD, achalasia and infections esophagitis.
3. Identify the indications for surgical intervention in EoE, such as severe strictures and refractory disease.
