Georgia L. Thomas, RN, MBA, HACP, FACHE

Georgia L. Thomas, RN, MBA, HACP, FACHE is Associate Vice President of the Memorial Hermann Health System Central/West Region and Accreditation where she has oversight for clinical quality, patient safety, infection prevention, accreditation, registry reporting, clinical quality review, quality data management, patient safety methodology training along with Joint Commission Accreditation across all Memorial Hermann hospitals. In this role, she works to advance Memorial Hermann’s commitment to patient safety and exceptional end to end care for patients. Prior to Memorial Hermann, Georgia began her nursing career in the Cardiovascular ICU in the Rio Grande Valley and soon moved to The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

Her introduction to quality, performance improvement, patient safety science and accreditation came during an ICU Directorship in the Big Bend Region of West Texas. Since then she has had many years of experience with Joint Commission and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) accrediting bodies.

She returned to the Texas Medical Center pursuing Patient Safety Specialist, Quality Management and Risk Management positions at The Methodist Hospital System. In 2010, she was appointed Director of Quality, Risk Management and Compliance at St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System where she help open the ground breaking community hospital in Northwest Houston area.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
