EDUCATING THE PUBLIC REGARDING THE DESPICABLE PRACTICE OF FEE SPLITTING
Abstract
Dr. W. A. Evans, a native of Mississippi, formerly Health Commissioner of Chicago, and now Health Editor of the Chicago Tribune, is serving the public in a large way by the preparation of articles on medical matters for lay readers. Recently he has contributed a series of timely articles to the Chicago Tribune which gives the public some information regarding the despicable practice of fee splitting. There is no question that such articles do good, because if a physician or surgeon can not be stopped by losing the confidence and respect of his brother physicians, he can be made to become respectable when the public learns of the wiles of those nefarious traffickers of human lives known as fee-splitters. It has been suggested by the American College of Surgeons that this series of articles by Dr. Evans be reproduced in the newspapers throughout the country. The following is extracted from the first of Dr. Evans' articles on fee splittingThis content is limited to qualifying members.
