Penetrating Wounds of the Esophagogastric Junction

Authors: TERRY R. JONES MD, JOAQUIN S. ALDRETE MD.

Abstract

Abstract:Five cases of penetrating injuries to the esophagogastric junction are reviewed. There was one death postoperatively from a complication unrelated to the esophagogastric junction injury. In two cases, fundoplication was done. It appears that primary closure followed by fundoplication is the preferred method for treating penetrating wounds to the esophagogastric junction.
