Psychopharmacologic Roulette

Authors: GENEVIEVE A. ARNESON M.D.

Abstract

The author states that over a third of the prescriptions written in this country are for the psychodynamic drugs. Obviously but a small proportion of these prescriptions are written by psychiatrists, if for no other reason than their thin ranks. If this is true, why so many of these prescriptions, and are the indications clear-cut for such treatment! It would be well for everyone prescribing these drugs to read this review and give careful thought to the use of these potent drugs.
