Redesigning Payment of Internal Medicine: A Financial Challenge
Abstract
In the recent position paper of the American College of Physicians on “Reform of the Dysfunctional Healthcare Payment and Delivery System,” various recommendations were made to improve compensation of cognitive versus procedural medicine.1 Current financial compensation for generalists is a main factor in the decline of new residents entering the field of internal and family medicine.2–4This content is limited to qualifying members.
