Authors: Krishnan Raghavendran, MD

Abstract

Delayed hemopericardium has been reported following blunt and penetrating trauma.1–5 It has also been reported following blunt trauma presenting as cardiac tamponade.6 The possibility of a pericarditis from the accumulated blood and subsequent increase in size, which warrants surgical therapy, has been discussed by Karmy-Jones et al.6
