The Southern Medical Association (SMA) is proud to feature Issam El Naqa, PhD, DABR, FAAPM, FIEE, FAIMBE, as a speaker for the Association's 117th Annual Scientific Assembly taking place November 13-15, 2025 in New Orleans.

Dr. Issam El Naqa is Senior Member and the founding chair of the Department of Machine Learning at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. An internationally recognized authority in machine learning, data analytics, bioinformatics, imaging analytics, and oncology outcomes modeling, he has published more than 220 peer-reviewed journal articles and four edited textbooks. He is a fellow of several academic and professional societies, including AAPM and IEEE, and serves on national and international study sections. His research has been supported by federal and private grants in both the United States and Canada, and he contributes as a peer reviewer and editorial board member for leading international journals in his areas of expertise.
