Assembly Faculty Spotlight: Loretta Loftus, MD, MBA

The Southern Medical Association (SMA) is proud to feature Loretta Loftus, MD, MBA, as a speaker for the Association's 117th Annual Scientific Assembly taking place November 13-15, 2025 in New Orleans.

Dr. Loftus is a medical oncologist and senior member of the Department of Breast Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. She serves as Moffitt’s principal investigator for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Breast Outcomes Project and is a panel member for NCCN’s breast cancer risk assessment and reduction guidelines. Dr. Loftus played a key role in establishing Moffitt’s Lifetime Cancer Screening Center high-risk breast clinic. Actively involved in patient care, teaching, and research, she also contributes to studies on geriatric oncology and is a member of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology. Passionate about the humanistic side of medicine, she frequently lectures on art, illness, and the lives of public figures such as Sylvia Plath and Vincent Van Gogh. Dr. Loftus holds an MBA from the University of South Florida and is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, currently working on a mystery novel.
