With the South facing a physician shortage of more than 100,000 by the year 2030, there is now more need than ever to support the journey of the next generation of healthcare leaders. SMA's Awards, Scholarships, and Grants Committee, composed of senior leadership including PIT representation, under the guidance of the SMA Board of Directors determines the qualifications of all applicants/recipients. Scholarships are awarded to those who are enrolled in an appropriate health professions school that is accredited by the corresponding accreditation body.
