Biologic False Positive Reactions for Syphilis

Abstract

The development of more specific serologic tests, especially those using treponemal antigens, has been of great aid in the evaluation of the reactive routine, screening “blood tests” for syphilis. Though biologic false positive reactions may be highly significant, it should not be forgotten that a positive test raises the diagnosis of syphilis first and foremost.
