Abstract

No matter what his type of practice, the doctor sooner or later, and at intervals will have under his care a patient who has attempted or threatened suicide. Under no circumstances can he dismiss these symptoms as insignificant. His is the responsibility of evaluating the patient's personality and motivations, for many are the successful suicides shortly after an abortive attempt.
