Fatal Myocarditis Associated With Abortion in Early Pregnancy
Abstract
Primary myocardial disease in early pregnancy is a rare phenomenon. We describe four abortion-related deaths in the United States from 1975 through 1978 which were attributed at postmortem examination to myocarditis in the first trimester of pregnancy. Three of the four deaths were associated with conditions which have a presumed immunologic mechanism.This content is limited to qualifying members.
