Gonococcal Arthritis in Pregnancy

Abstract

Eleven cases of gonococcal arthritis in pregnancy were observed at Charity Hospital of New Orleans between January 1958 and January 1968. Four of the patients were admitted to the Tulane Obstetrical Service over a period of 9 months. These 4 cases are reported in detail. Of the 11 patients, 7 were in the third trimester of pregnancy. Five had the definite variety and 6 the probable type of arthritis. The symptoms, laboratory findings and treatment in gonococcal arthritis are briefly discussed.
