Hemodynamic Studies Before and After Induced Hypothyroidism for the Treatment of Severe Heart Failure

Authors: JOHN H. K. VOGEL M.D., JOSEPH M. MERRILL M.D.

Abstract

Hypothyroidism, for the treatment of severe heart failure, has been used for decades, induced by surgical extirpation of the gland, irradiation by the x-ray and now by radioactive iodine. Though clinical improvement has been recognized, studies of physiologic function in such cases have been sparse. The authors add to our knowledge in this area.
