Manpower Shortage—Fact or Fancy?

Abstract

The author reviews the apparent manpower shortage in anesthesiologists. He believes some of this could be corrected by improvement in scheduling use of operating rooms as well as other facets of practice. He speculates upon the development of physicians' assistants to relieve the anesthesiologist of certain details in his practice.
