Authors: THOMAS W. McDONALD . MD., LEONARD A. AARO . MD.

Abstract

Abstract:Methods of abortion include dilatation and curettage, vacuum aspiration, intra-amniotic or extra-amniotic hypertonic saline, intra-amniotic hypertonic glucose, and abdominal hysterotomy. Each procedure is associated with its own type of medical complication. In addition, there are other medical complications that can be associated with every induced abortion: transplacental hemorrhage, fetal homografts, and adverse effects on subsequent pregnancies.
