Abstract
Video Lectures on Bioelectromagnetism http://butler.cc.tut.fi/∼malmivuo/bem/bembook/in/vi.htm is an essential adjunct to an online textbook that aims to “… raise the readers’ interest in bioelectromagnetism and provide the background that will allow them to delve into research and practical applications in the field. We also hope that the book will facilitate the development of medical diagnosis and therapy.” The book itself (http://butler.cc.tut.fi/∼malmivuo/bem/bembook/) is well-illustrated with annotated cartoons and large diagrams. There is a considerable amount of mathematics and physics to be absorbed here, but the theory is closely related to anatomy, physiology, and such medical applications as diagnostic electrical recordings of ECG, EEG, etc. The text offers a fascinating corpus for prolonged exploration and assimilation, and the video link at the top of the home page opens to a large series of lectures that will ease the burden of this enormous pedagogy. The videos were recorded at the Ragnar Granit Institute in the autumn of 2006 from the 28 chapter web-version of the book: Bioelectromagnetism—Principles and Applications of Bioelectric and Biomagnetic Fields, Jaakko Malmivuo & Robert Plonsey: Oxford University Press, New York, 1995.This content is limited to qualifying members.
