Myocardial Revascularization Using the Saphenous Vein Bypass: A Pre- and Postoperative Assessment

Authors: PHILIP O. LITTLEFORD, MD, ROBERT G. KIGER, MD, EDWARD E. ANDERSON, MD, LOYDA TACOGUE, MD, HARRY L. PAGE JR., MD

Abstract

The subjective evaluation by patients of results of treatment for a life-endangering illness notoriously are of questionable value. The studies reported in this paper are most timely. Those using surgical methods for revascularization of the myocardium need to continue to assess their results on both a short- and long-term basis. This and other similar studies should establish the bypass operation as a valuable and valid method of treatment in properly selected patients.
